Hard Core Dayhikes:
July 2012 South Lake Tahoe
Sunday August 12, 2012 Colorado

Put the Adventure in the Adventure Rabbi Program

Two hard-core day hikes in 2012

Join Rabbi Korngold and Rabbi Evon Yakar for a day of rigorous hiking through awe inspiring wildflowers complemented by contemplative conversation.

We will hike, learn, and hike some more. (Mostly hike though!)

South Lake Tahoe, California Hike: TBD

Colorado Hike:
Where:
4th of July Trailhead (outside Nederland)

We'll start at the 4th of July Trailhead, one of my favorite front range trailheads. We'll spend a short time in the trees, break out into open areas usually covered with wildflowers, do a stream crossing, and maybe cross a snow field or two as we work our way up to Arapahoe Pass at 11,900 ft, and peer over the divide.

What: 8-10 miles. We head up to Arapahoe pass (11,900+ ft), depending on trail conditions and weather. Please sign up in advance, as possible last minute change in trails is possible if conditions change. If you have a higher clearance vehicle and are willing to drive, please come to the meeting location with a full tank of gas.

When: August 12, 2012
We will meet in Boulder at 6 am, begin hiking at 7 a.m. and intend to be back at the cars by 3 or 4 p.m.

Suggested equipment: Plenty of water, lunch & snacks, sunscreen, rain gear, layers, waterproof boots, & poles (We might be crossing some snow fields here and there)

Fee: free for members, all others $22 per hike or (Late fee of + $5/hike, begins 7 days before before the hike)

Guides: Rabbi Jamie Korngold, Rabbi Evon Yakar, Jeanette Domber and Jeff Finkelstein

Who Should Sign Up?
To come on this trip you must be in strong physical condition and able to hike at a sustained pace on an adventure which will last up to 8 hours. (If you are in "Boulder" shape, you'll be fine. This won't be as hard as a peak climb. But, for people that don't get out much, it would be hard. Call us if that doesn't make sense!)
You must be willing to work with a group. We are unable to accommodate dogs or children under 16.

Please do not show up at the trailhead without advanced registration.
Participants must speak to Jeff
or have been on hikes with us before to be eligible for this trip.

We require 10 pre-registered participants to run this trip.
