We
sit quietly in a circle, resting our backs against rocks and tree
trunks. We listen to the sound of the wind blowing over the ridge
and the birds calling to one another in the trees.
Here it is easy to feel the peace of Shabbat, to cherish the rest
of sitting still.
Here it is easy to slow down, to notice the present rather than
a future destination.
Here it is easy to thank our Creator for this awesome ridge, for
this day, and for each other.
Shabbat in the wilderness is a peaceful, inspirational, and joyful
experience that brings us closer as a community, yet allows time
to be alone. We sing familiar melodies and prayers together as a
group, and take time for private contemplation beneath the forest
trees.
We reach deeply inside ourselves, while extending to meet That
Which is Greater Than Ourselves.
