Adults pursue the bar or bat mitzvah experience as an opportunity
to reaffirm their Judaism, deepen their spiritual relationship with
Torah, and to set and achieve learning goals.
Some adults study for bar or bat mitzvah alongside their children
and celebrate a joint b'nai mitzvah. This can be an incredibly enriching
experience, and foster an unparalleled connection between parent
and child.
An adult bar or bat mitzvah candidate can expect to:

Meet with the Rabbi to share goals for the bar or bat mitzvah
process, as well as dreams and visions for the ceremony.

Choose one topic of interest for in-depth independent study,
to last at least four months, meeting monthly with the Rabbi
to discuss what she or he has learned.

Study with a tutor to achieve Hebrew reading fluidity.

Meet with the Rabbi to review Torah and Haftarah reading, develop
a sermon, and rehearse the service.

In conjunction with the Rabbi, choose which elements of the
children's b'nai mitzvah process are appropriate to incorporate.
